International round table “Regional-ethnic communities and disputed territories: Northeast India”

The International Round Table “Regional-ethnic communities and disputed territories: Northeast India” will be held at Russian State University for the Humanities (RSUH, Moscow) on April 4-5, 2024 from 12:00 pm to 03:00 pm.

 

The event is held as part of the Humanitarian Scientific conference - 2024 and will be held in a mixed format at Miusskaya sq., 6, building 3, room. 405-408.

There were two sessions. The first one was held on April 4, 2024 and was dedicated to Philology issues. The plenary session was opened by the report of Ms Shrutidhara Hainari, PhD student of Gauhati University, Assam, India. Ms Shrutidhara presented her presentation about exploring the Rich Heritage and the Bodo Tribe of Northeast India. The students' reports raised the problems of multilingualism among speakers of the Bodo language, issues of education and teaching in the Bodo language, as well as a wide range of problems related to the economic and demographic situation of the state of Tripura.

The second session was held on April 5, 2024 and was dedicated to History issues. The plenary session was opened by the report of Prof. Sukhendu Debbarma, Professor in History    & Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Dean, Faculty of Music and Fine Arts Tripura university ( A Central University), Agartala, Tripura, India. Prof. Sukhendu Debbarma told Russian students about the Kokborok language and the indigenous tribes of the state of Tripura who are its speakers. The report caused a lively discussion among the round table participants.

The following problems were also discussed at the section: problems of identity in the global world (by the case of the Indian state of Assam), separatism of ethnic minorities in northeast of India, historical background to protests and separatism in Assam, conflict between tribes and migrants in Assam» etc.
