FESTIVAL OF SOUTH ASIAN CULTURES

The organizers:

The International Academic Centre for South Asian Studies of the RSUH, the Department for International Area Studies and Foreign Policy of the Institute of History and Archives, RSUH’s Students Union

Prof Efim Pivovar, Rector of RSUH, Prof Alexander Bezborodov, Pro-rector, and Dr. Anna Matveeva actively supported the idea of holding Festival of South Asian culture at RSUH.   

This event is carried out in the frames of implementing the basic idea of RSUH – “Education through Art and Culture” and the Year of Literature in Russia.

Venue: Chayanova street, 15, Russian State University for the Humanities, (Academic Council Meeting Hall, 6 block, 5 floor, turn to the right and pass through the Museum)

11:00 am – 12:00 pm

The Opening Session of the Festival of South Asian Cultures is to be inaugurated at 11:00 on October 27, 2015 at the Academic Council Meeting Hall of RSUH. The inaugural speeches of Prof Alexander Bezborodov, Pro-rector, Dr. Anna Matveeva, Rector Assistant, the representatives of the Embassies of India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the representatives of the Second Asian Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Moscow House of Nationalities, the honorable guests of the Festival, the representatives of Bangladesh students society in Moscow, the participants of the conference and invited guests are the important part of its inauguration Program.  

12.00 – 01.00 pm "Leo Tolstoy and Mahatma Gandhi’s documentary film directed by Galina Evtushenko, Honored artist of Russia will be showed.

Placing of the stands with magazines and books, provided by the Embassies of South Asian Countries (India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh) in Moscow and the posters of the companies and tourist agencies (Venue: foyer 1st floor, building 6)

Time: 12:00 pm – 04:00 pm: Fair of the goods from South Asian Countries (Venue: Hall, 2nd floor, behind the Central auditorium)

Time: 02:00 pm – 04:00 pm: The informative lecture about the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and People's Republic of Bangladesh (Venue: Ground floor Auditorium, building 7)

Time: 06:00 – 08:00 pm: Concert of Indian music. Venue: (the Central auditorium, 1st floor, building 7)

The international conference on Classical Indology

Day of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal

10:00 am – 11:00 pm  The Opening plenary session of the international conference on Classical Indology. The inaugural speeches of Prof Efim Pivovar, Rector of RSUH, HE P.S. Raghavan, Ambassador of India, Prof. Sergey Serebryaniy, Prof. Rostislav Rybakov.

11:00 am – 12:00 pm Inauguration ceremonies of two study rooms which have been established according to the programme of cooperation between RSUH and JNCC: “M.K. Gandhi – Jawaharlal Nehru study-room” (408 room, 3 block, 3 floor) and “BRICS study-room” (1116A room, 10 floor, 5 block)

Time: 02:00 pm – 03:00 pm: Lecture by Prof. Krishna Prakash Shrestha about Nepal. Prof. Krishna Prakash Shrestha is the winner of “Sri Jagadamba”, the prestigious literary award in Nepal.  (Venue: Room 206, 1st floor, building 7)

Time: 06:00 – 08:00 pm: Sergey Boyko, the famous Russian traveler and blogger will present participants an informative lecture about Nepal. Venue: Mokhovaya str. 6, Center of Oriental Literature of the Russian State Library

Time: 10:00 pm – 06:00 pm: Fair of the goods from South Asian Countries (Venue: Hall, 2nd floor, behind the Central auditorium)
