RSUH students’ Art exhibition “Mahatma Gandhi and Satyagraha”

Russian State University for Humanities (RSUH) is organizing the students' Art exhibition “Mahatma Gandhi and Satyagraha” in course of the 8th International Conference "Mahatma Gandhi and Indian Modernity", organised by the Centre for Indian Studies, The Institute of Oriental Studies, Russian Academy of Science.

The event is actively supported by the Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Centre (JNCC), Embassy of India, Moscow.

The RSUH students’ Art exhibition is dedicated to the celebration of the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and is to be placed at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (12 Rozhdestvenka str., Moscow).

HE D. Bala Venkatesh Varma, Ambassador of India to Russia is invited as an honorary guest to open the conference.

Russian students of the "Art-Design" Study Centre and the College of Humanities, namely Anna Andronova, Darya Bobyl, Alice Buria, Olga Vasilyeva, Maria Gorbatyuk, Maria Karpova, Yulia Litvakova, Lucas Mendez Maria Cielo, Natalia Palachar, Elvira Suleimanova, Veronika Filimonova and Lina Shlain – are studying “Graphic Design”, “Web Design” subjects at the university. Their compositions and graphic works made in various materials and techniques are to be presented at the exhibition. Though their paintings are very different, still there is a certain similarity between them, because all these works are devoted to India.

On October 2, 2019, the whole world will celebrate the International Day of Non-Violence and the 150th anniversary of the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, the great peacemaker, father of the Indian nation.
