Social and cultural problems in post-Soviet Russia were discussed at the University of Mumbai (India)

Central Eurasian Studies and Department of Russian, University of Mumbai in collaboration with the Russian State University for the Humanities (RSUH) jointly organized

International seminar “Socio-Cultural issues in Post-Soviet Russia”.

 

Prof Sanajay Deshpande, organizer and Director of the Eurasian study Centre and Department of Russian studies  welcomed the participants and guests and told that the Socio-Cultural issues in contemporary Russian society are having its great significance in various segments, based on which the proposed seminar has selected the theme of Socio-Cultural Issues in Post-Soviet Russia which can be evaluated by various dimensions.

Prof. Deshpande also thanked Dr. Sergey Fandeev, Director of the Russian Centre for Science and Culture  in Mumbai and Khristina Boyko, Consul of the General Consulate of Russian Federation in Mumbai for their support in promotion Russian studies in India.

Prof. A.A. Stolyarov presented the prof. Sanjay Deshpande “Russia-India” calendar, created by students of the ART-Design Center of the RSUH - Natalya Palachar, Ekaterina Feduleyeva and Sofia Zhurba under the guidance of Dr. Tatyana Borisova and Dr. Andrei Shuliki, technical editor.

16 reports on topics of migration, ethnicity and inter-clan issues, influence of western culture on Russian society, folklore, youth and narcotics, terrorism and its impact on society, traditions and modernity, education and society, media and censorship, religion and language, environmental, urbanization and health, gender disparity, tourism were presented at this seminar.  

All participants were awarded certificates of participation.
